Flight 006 Sabotaged by Mercury Retrograde

Investigators concluded that pilot error was responsible for the crash of Singapore Airlines Flight 006 that killed 81 of the 179 people on board. The jumbo jet zoomed down the wrong runway when cleared for takeoff, struck some equipment, and burst into flames. The crash occurred last Tuesday, October 31 at 11:17 pm in Taipei, Taiwan.

A horoscope drawn for this time and place shows that Mercury retrograde was conjunct the fourth house cusp, one of the four critical angles of any chart. Planets near the angles represent the dominant influences in an event chart, and Mercury retrograde is the classic indicator for making decisions according to faulty or poorly understood information.

At the time of the disaster Mercury was also squaring Neptune, a troublesome combination that tends to blur one's sense of reality. Neptune, the natural ruler of the sea, can be linked to the approaching typhoon, with winds gusting to 57 mph, and making directional lights difficult to discern. The pilot was cleared to leave from runway 05L but he turned down runaway 05R instead. The L and R refer to runways left and right, two parallel lanes, with one in good working order and the other under construction.

Mercury retrograde squaring Neptune, and both planets near the angles in Taiwan at 11:17 pm, is a classic astrological formula for disaster based on misinformation. A flight computer programmed with these kinds of planetary formulas could warn pilots of potential dangerous times. Astrology could have prevented this tragedy.

Pre-election News Briefs

Clinton loves to campaign, but with Mars passing through his twelfth house of isolation, he's chafing at the bit, much "like a thoroughbred racehorse chained to the barn," as one pundit described. Immediately after the election transiting Mars arrives at Clinton's diplomatic Libra Ascendant and he will once again be in the spotlight to host the Middle East peace negotiations.

George W. Bush was arrested in Kennebunkport, Maine for drunken driving on September 4, 1976, it was revealed last Thursday. Transiting Saturn was on W's Ascendant back then, a time to accept maturity and responsibility. The challenge was turned down, and Saturn's discipline came in the form of an outside agency, the police.

Pat Flannagan, a NewsScope reader from Athens, GA, writes "I just found a story on the Associated Press wire that the White House celebrates its 200th birthday tomorrow. Apparently John Adams officially took residence November 1, 1800 a solar day very close to the Scorpio national ascendant if I'm not mistaken."

Mercury turns direct at 9:28 pm EST on November 7, the evening of the election. At the time Mercury happens to be exactly conjunct Pallas, the political strategy asteroid. If ever there was an interesting political minute, this is it. In Washington DC the very degree of the US natal Mercury is on the Ascendant, emphasizing the Mercurial quality of this time. Watch for key announcements, news, and/or concessions.

Eva Morris, World's Oldest Woman

The oldest woman in the world died last week. According to the Guinness Book of records, Eva Morris died just six days before her 115th birthday. Morris, who attributed her longevity to whisky and boiled onions, died peacefully in her sleep in one of England's nursing homes.

Eva Morris was born a determined Scorpio on November 8, 1885. The asteroid Ceres governs the nurturing principle, especially how well one can take care of, or mother oneself. Ceres has many aspects in Eva's chart, including an energetic square to Mars, and faith-supporting links to Jupiter and Neptune.

While the publishers of the Guinness book require a birth certificate for authentication, Elizabeth "Pampo" Israel from the island nation of Dominica has church baptismal records that indicate she was born on January 27, 1875. She died earlier this year at the age of 125. Pampo likewise is astrologically granted long life by a well-placed Ceres with favorable, supporting links to Jupiter and Neptune.

This identical longevity signature of Ceres-Jupiter-Neptune can be found in the horoscope of Jeanne Calment, born less than a month after Pampo on February 21, 1875. Guinness recognizes Calment as the oldest person ever with authenticated records. She died at the age of 122 on August 4, 1997. When considering church records, the oldest person ever was probably Maria do Carmo Jeronimo, a former slave from Brazil who died on June 14, 2000 at the age of 129. She was born on March 5, 1871, and like the other elders, has the blessed Ceres-Jupiter-Neptune signature.
