AOL Enters S&P 500
Following the New Year’s adage “Out with the old, in with
the new,” America Online will replace the venerable
Woolworth Corporation in the Standard & Poor’s 500
Index. Woolworth’s lost 67 of its value in 1998, and is now
worth less than $1 billion, while America Online’s value
has seen a sixfold increase since last year, and is currently
valued at a whopping $63 billion.
This business news was announced as Pluto, the planet of
concentrated wealth, was exactly opposing the U.S.
Uranus, the planet of new technology. AOL is the first
internet stock to join the S&P 500, but already ranks in the
top 38 in market capitalization.
The electrical excitement generated by the
telecommunications revolution provides a thrilling
counterpoint to the hate politics and scandal mongering in
Washington. Even as the President was impeached and Iraq
was bombed last week, the stock market reached new
highs. This phenomenon was solely attributed to one
sector: the high-flying internet stocks such as eBay, Yahoo,
and Amazon, and astrologically perfectly reflected in the
transit of Pluto opposite the U.S. Uranus.
The widespread acceptance of the internet as a safe and
exciting place to do business is rapidly leading to the
creation of a global marketplace, located in that etheric
region known as cyberspace. The transits of Pluto through
international, cosmopolitan Sagittarius, and Uranus and
Neptune through the networking sign of Aquarius over the
next few years fosters the leading edge vision for an
internet future, and one that puts all prophecies of
Dooms-Day scenarios on a skeptical, wait-and-see basis.
For the first time in history, the collective will of the
world’s peoples has a vehicle for focused expression, and
anything can happen.
Ceres Promotes Goddess Sightings
A Texas woman, Nkem Chukwu, gave birth to the world’s
first surviving set of octuplets last week, a mixed blessing
chemically induced by fertility pills. While traditional
astrology uses only two feminine planets (Venus and the
Moon), the deployment of the major four asteroids restores
balance to the astrologer’s toolbox over-weighted by male
archetypes.
The first asteroid discovered was Ceres, the Great Mother
asteroid. Ceres in the U.S. horoscope is located in the 5th
house of children, and is nearly exactly square Uranus. Last
week when transiting Pluto opposed Uranus, it also squared
Ceres, giving rise to the octuplets event.
One of Pluto’s meanings is the massive replication of
anything. The octuplets (Pluto) were a product of scientific
advances (Uranus) in fertility (Ceres). Pluto’s placement in
the ethical sign of Sagittarius promoted many questions
regarding whether this is a morally acceptable practice.
Also last week, several news stories reported on the
growing number of Virgin Mary sightings. Some
mystically-oriented Catholics are wondering about the
1917 Fatima sightings of Mary, who gave prophecies about
our twentieth century. As the Millennium approaches,
watch for more manifestations of the Goddess in her
various religious garbs, especially when the outer planets
activate Ceres.
Astrology and the Stock Market
While many astrologers use the metaphysical language of
the planets to gain insights into the individual psyche, a
handful of astrologers have recognized that economic
cycles respond to planetary cycles. A fascinating picture of
last year’s Dow Jones Averages can be seen by using the
birth chart of the New York Stock Exchange.
Created by a group of Manhattan investors on May 17,
1792 (at a rectified birth time of 10:11 am), the NYSE
horoscope can be used to monitor and forecast the
significant trends, bottoms, and tops of the Dow Jones
Industrial Average, the world’s most watched stock market.
Progressed planets define the major trends, and last year’s
roller coaster ride is a perfect example. The market reached
a top on July 17, at which time the progressed NYSE Sun
was within a quarter of a degree to squaring natal Mars.
Mars causes rapid changes in price, usually downward. The
market plunged to a low of 7500 which it reached on
October 8 when the progressed Sun was exactly,
to-the-minute square to Mars. As the square passed, the
cutting influence waned, and over the next month, the
market returned to its high, reached on November 27.
A graph of 1998
Dow shows a mirror image centered on
the inflection point defined as the exact progressed
Sun-to-Mars aspect. The political news corresponded to the
pending impeachment of President Clinton. The interested
researcher will find a similar situation when the NYSE
progressed Sun squared natal Pluto during the 1974
Watergate scandal.
