Solar Eclipse Establishes Pax Americana

Astrologers across the global village had been predicting catastrophes of unprecedented magnitude, scheduled to arrive during last week’s Solar Eclipse. While Yeltsin fired yet another Prime Minister, and another deranged American went on a shooting rampage, none of these events could be considered within the range of expected disaster. The stock market did not crash, and World War III did not erupt.

Feeding the frenzied forecasts was the mysterious quatrain issued centuries ago by Nostradamus, who foresaw a “reign of terror.” Astrologers grabbed onto this description because it seemed to corroborate the dangerous array of planets that accompanied the Solar Eclipse, which all together formed a Grand Cross.

The one wild card which Nostradamus did not foresee was the establishment of the United States which declared its independence 210 years after the seer died. Without an economic and military dominant force to mediate between warring nations, the “Reign of Terror” could certainly have transpired.

Trouble between China and Taiwan, India and Pakistan, Israel and Syria, and a host of other flash points were all calmed by persistent American diplomatic efforts. The Grand Cross planets aligned with the U.S. Midheaven, the point of honor and destiny. The powerful activation of the U.S. Midheaven was last activated by a Solar Eclipse in 1990, which led immediately to the Persian Gulf War.

Last week’s eclipse was at least as stimulating, but nowhere has any nation directly threatened the U.S. or its economic investments. Undoubtedly, Planet Earth is now being governed by the American Empire, that nebulous conglomeration of corporate, military, and democratic interests. For better or worse, the world is being maintained as a safe place to do business.

Solar Eclipse Trigger Points

Although the immediate impact of the Solar Eclipse was not terribly tragic, the danger is not yet past. The potential of eclipses can be released at later dates when the eclipse point is activated by a faster moving planet. Astrologers differ on how long the potential can last, but between six months and two years fits the consensus.

Venus turns direct on September 10 at the exact degree of last week’s Solar Eclipse. This astrological event is the first trigger point which could activate the unreleased potential. Venus by herself is not a particularly dangerous or foreboding planet, yet when she turns direct at 18 degrees Leo, we will find out what damage she can actually do.

Venus is associated with the entertainment industry, money markets, and film stars. Because Venus makes her station in the U.S. tenth house, we might experience the loss of a famous American around that time. Venus is also linked to glamorous women, trade agreements, peace treaties, and victory. Keep your eyes open for major developments along these lines.

Two more trigger points to watch are the Sun’s alignment with Uranus and Saturn during the first week of November, and then the Mars alignment with Saturn and Uranus in mid-December. Both these events trigger last week’s Solar Eclipse point, and are more dangerous in terms of military conflict. These two dates may also refer to Y2K developments.

Ronald Reagan Snacks on Sorbet

Defying media reports that he was near death, Ronald Reagan was spotted snacking on sorbet ice cream last week. He regularly steps out to visit his office or walk along the beach, and wife Nancy and son Michael both firmly scolded those who persisted in spreading rumors about his imminent demise.

Ronald Reagan was born a humanitarian Aquarius on February 6, 1911 (in Tampico, IL). Reagan’s Sun is located exactly opposite the U.S. Midheaven, an alignment which suggests his natural patriotism and national appeal. His Moon along with his Saturn, Vesta, and North Node are all in traditional Taurus and describe his conservative politics, a tendency heightened and rewarded by a close aspect to optimistic Jupiter. His Sun, Moon, and Jupiter all align with last week’s Solar Eclipse planets, so whether we can see the effect or not, his well-being is certainly questionable from an astrological perspective.

A birth time of 3:45 am* gives him Sagittarius Rising, a sign noted for its story-telling ability, and love of wide, open spaces. Militant Mars in the first house, and opposing ruthless Pluto shows how his legacy would surround his challenging of the “Evil Empire.” He bet the American economy on the military arms race, which the Soviets could not match, and some say was the ultimate cause of the USSR collapse.

Reagan’s communications planet Mercury is opposite imaginative Neptune. This combination at its best produces skillful, persuasive speech (“The Great Communicator”), but at its worst is susceptible to fuzzy logic, and perhaps is an astrological indicator for Alzheimer’s.

* time is controversial, but this time is deciphered from Nancy Reagan’s astrologer Joan Quigley from her book “What does Joan Say?” You can order this book and other political astrology books at http://www.homestea d.com/neptunecafe/political.html.
