NewsScope for August 9, 1999 by WolfStar Hillary Dabbles in Psychobabble Aside for the Republican $792 billion tax cut proposal that will get vetoed, the talk of the town last week was Hillary Clinton’s interview in the premier issue of Talk magazine. In the article the First Lady discussed a deeply personal issue that she had previously declared off limits: her husband’s chronic infidelity. The first leaked reports of that interview appeared just as Venus, the planet governing intimate relationships, turned retrograde. The retrograde, or apparent backward motion of Venus, infers a new direction in her relationship patterns, and an introspective or thoughtful approach to sexuality. Since Venus turned retrograde in analytical Virgo, Ms. Clinton’s approach was psychoanalytical. She explained her husband’s behavior as a pathology, a sickness that stems from his childhood. She blamed an abusive relationship between Bill and two competing women, namely his mother and grandmother. When Venus stops her apparent motion in the sky, and is aligned with a natal planet or one of the four angles of the horoscope, she takes on extra powerful significance. In HRC’s case, Venus turned retrograde exactly conjunct her 4th house cusp, which is the point marking the early family, and the psychological foundation of any horoscope. Venus retrograde can also indicate a turning away from owning her own dysfunctional childhood where she was programmed to never abandon family or partner, no matter how much that person may hurt you. Blaming Bill’s childhood situation ignores her own enabling and motherly approach to protecting the President, and her connection with political power. Venus retrograde is denial. Complex Crop Circles Appearing near Stonehenge On August 6 a beautiful crop circle dubbed the “Basket” was destroyed by a farmer the day he discovered it in his field. Crop circle enthusiasts around the world decried this senseless act of destruction, likening it to a vandal slashing the Mona Lisa to ribbons. Only a few photos of the image were taken before the circle was cut down. For the past few months fabulously intricate crop circles have been appearing nearly every day near the ancient, mystical site of Stonehenge. The traditional news media have shunned reporting these startling developments, but internet accounts and periodic updates from radio host Art Bell are feeding speculation that Planet Earth is being visited by Extra Terrestrials, or some other form of intelligent life. According to paranormal reporter Linda Moulton Howe, several of the crop circles depict the August 11 Solar Eclipse. Crop circle researcher Colin Andrews was recently given a $1 million grant by the Rockefeller Foundation to decipher their meaning and origin. The images have invoked awe and respect in 1999 as every additional crop circle grows in complexity, often inspiring religious devotion and endless speculation. Over the last few months circles have appeared which invoke models of our solar system, a DNA molecule, the Jewish Minora, and several 3D images. One three-dimensional cube known as the Antahkarana is known as an ancient Tibetan glyph which is said to inspire spiritual growth. Downey’s Last Chance Actor Robert Downey Jr. was sentenced last week to three years in prison for violating his probation terms and refusing to take a drug test. Downey, who earned an Oscar nomination for his 1992 portrayal of Charlie Chaplin, was given one more chance six months ago to mend his ways, but the troubled star was unable to complete the rehabilitation program. Robert Downey was born a fiery Aries on April 4, 1965 (at 1:10 pm in Manhattan, NY). With his Sun conjunct attractive Venus, and favorably aspecting his dramatic Leo Ascendant, Downey has been able to charm and manipulate his way through the court system - until now. An exact opposition between his Moon and Neptune gives the actor the sensitivity and intuition to play commanding roles, but also the tendency to drift away in drug addiction. Beneath the pleasant and winning appearance, this actor was born during one of the most dynamic, tense planetary configurations to come along in decades. A dangerously explosive triple conjunction in Virgo involving Mars, Uranus, and Pluto is intensified by an opposition to Saturn in the nebulous, ethereal sign of Pisces. This alignment was a central factor creating the social revolution of the Sixties, and Downey embodies the implicit anti-establishment vibration of that generation. Downey failed his last chance as transiting Mars, Saturn, and Uranus (the same trio in his natal configuration) all formed hard aspects to his Ascendant. At the moment, his progressed Ascendant is in the midst of his extremely volatile Virgo planets, pointing to an immediate crisis of consciousness, and potential lethal action.
