Clinton Goes to China, and other Conspiracies

President Clinton's China trip is embroiled in controversy and intrigue, a perfect astrological reflection of this week's Saturn-Neptune square. Because this Saturn-Neptune vibe will be in effect through the November elections, Republican hopefuls (Neptune) see the China card (Saturn) as their wedge issue.

Saturn and Neptune together form an astrological climate of fear-mongering and conspiracy. Did Clinton's camp sell top secret satellite technology to China in exchange for campaign contributions? Some day China may become a nuclear superpower to rival the United States, but GOP strategy is to present that possibility as real now, along with portraying Clinton as willing to do anything, even commit high treason, for the sake of $100 thousand contribution.

Saturn's opening square to Neptune takes place every 36 years. The last time this aspect was in effect, both planets were exactly linked to the U.S. Midheaven,* the point representing the nation's destiny and political leadership. On November 22, 1963, when Saturn was opposing the Midheaven, and Neptune was squaring the Midheaven, President Kennedy was assassinated in Dallas, an event representing the ultimate conspiracy theory in American history.

Resonating with that shocking moment, now that Saturn and Neptune are returning to the same angle (but not aspecting the Midheaven) is the pending release of the Zapruder film, the only video document which captured the assassination. In a more popular reconstruction, the surviving Beatles will be reuniting to sing for Linda McCartney's favorite cause, animal rights.

China Comes of Age

The ancient culture of China has its most recent incarnation popularly set for the communist takeover declared on October 1, 1949 (at 3:15 PM in Beijing). China's Libra Sun is virtually the same zodiacal location as Clinton's Libra Ascendant, showing what may be called their karmic link. The Dalai Lama believes that Clinton is actually the reincarnation of a famous Chinese emperor.

China's querky, unpredictable behavior can be seen in its national horoscope by an Aquarius Ascendant, and the Sun square Uranus. With Uranus placed in the fifth house of youth and students, much of Chinese evolution proceeds in zigzag political movements fostered by student unrest. Watch for poignant political reminders of the Tianamen Square massacre when the Sun passes over this sensitive point on Friday.

China's progressed horoscope reveals its political dynamics. The progressed Sun squared ruthless Pluto during the brutal repression of the Tianamen demonstration. Now, China's progressed Mars is nearing Saturn, showing an interest in military restraint, especially regarding nuclear technology transfers to Iran and Pakistan. The U.S. role in this is paramount, since China's progressed Moon is exactly conjunct the U.S. Scorpio Ascendant during Clinton's visit.

China is about to step onto the world stage right around the Millenium. This fact can be seen many ways astrologically (most notably a progressed New Moon conjunct the MC). The one very worrisome configuration shaping up is the Solar Eclipse scheduled for August 11, 1999 which activates China's war-mongering Mars and Pluto.

Duchovny's X-File

The X-Files movie and TV show have struck it rich portraying paranoia and paranormal experiences. David Duchovny as agent Fox Mulder stars in these credible conspiracy dramas, along with partner Gillian Anderson as the more skeptical agent Scully. Together, these two dramatize for the American public the most mysterious and fearful suspicions about our own government.

Duchovny was born a dramatic Leo (August 7, 1960), with his Moon in cause-oriented Aquarius. He shares this Sun-Moon blend with David Koresh, who unfortunately played out his conspiracy theories in real life during the siege at Waco. Both Duchovny and Koresh were born with their Neptune, the planet ruling the mysterious and fantastic, in conspiracy-oriented Scorpio. In both cases, their Neptunes are right on the U.S. Scorpio Ascendant, reflecting why they would display their personas in such spectacular ways to the American psyche.

David Koresh (b. August 17, 1959), like Duchovny, has a Leo Sun conjunct Uranus, giving a strident streak of independence and self-determination. Koresh's chart is dominated by his Sun squaring a Scorpio Jupiter, depicting a religious extremism that knows no limits.

One year later when Duchovny was born, Jupiter was in Sagittarius, and more favorably enhancing planets in Leo. This combo produces the quest for understanding and knowledge, and has become popularly recognized in the X-Files motto, "The Truth is Out There." Still, Duchovny's critical Saturn is exactly opposite the U.S. Sun, and his presence is always a reminder that our government holds dark and dangerous secrets.
