Milosevic Indicted as War Criminal
For the first time in history a respected international
organization has indicted an active head of state for crimes
against humanity. Slobodan Milosevic has been charged by
the U.N. War Crimes Tribunal for his participation in
genocide, rape and the massive refugee crisis in Kosovo.
Astrologically, the growing tension between Saturn and
Uranus is the leading indicator for this and other important
international developments taking place around the global
community. Saturn and Uranus make their first of three
squares on July 18.
Between now and then those nations and organizations
with planets in the middle degrees of fixed signs are being
energized for major developmental growth. Especially
relevant to this list are those entities born right after World
War II during the momentous Saturn-Pluto conjunction.
These include Israel, NATO, India, Pakistan, China, and
the first wave of Baby Boomers now seeking political
office or other commanding position.
Since the 1947 Saturn-Pluto conjunction took place right
on the U.S. Midheaven, the United States assumed a
leading role in shaping international organizations. Now
these organizations are assuming their own agenda
irrespective of American wishes. The U.N. Tribunal in the
Hague has no means to bring Milosevic to trial, and
Russian diplomat Viktor Chernomyrdin seems unwilling to
press the Yugoslavian President.
Both Russia and China also have critical planetary
configurations in the degrees targeted by the pending
Saturn-Uranus square. As our international community
shrinks, the most powerful players are actively vying for
radical change (Uranus) and territorial authority and
command (Saturn in Taurus) within a rapidly evolving
international community (Uranus in Aquarius).
India and Pakistan Fight over Kashmir
Last week India and Pakistan clashed over a divided
Kashmir, a traditional fighting ground which the two
countries each seek to dominate. The military conflict
between guerrilla movements could easily expand to
include the armies of Pakistan and India, a situation made
dramatically volatile last year when they each
demonstrated their nuclear capabilities near the contested
region.
India and Pakistan were created simultaneously as national
entities when the British officially left on August 15, 1947.
The predominantly Islamic Pakistan and the predominantly
Hindu India share the same birth time of midnight, but the
charts are set for their individual capitals. Both horoscopes
feature an exact Saturn-Pluto conjunction now activated by
the Saturn-Uranus square (discussed above). Both charts
have Jupiter placed in intensely religious Scorpio.
India’s horoscope (set for new Delhi) features the
Saturn-Pluto conjunction very near the fourth house cusp.
This fourth house placement describes rule by family
dynasty. Sonia Gandhi is next in line for Prime Minister,
but it would mean electing a native Italian. NewsScope
readers were assessed of her horoscope and imminent rise
to power in the December 7, 1998 column.
In 1999 India’s progressed Pluto is exactly (to-the-minute)
on the important fourth house cusp. Astrologers have been
diligently mapping out the course of the infamous August
11, 1999 Solar eclipse, which passes through the troubled
Balkans. This eclipse continues across southern Asia
ending just after it passes though Kashmir.
Rosie O’Donnell Takes on the NRA
Talk show host Rosie O’Donnell made news recently when
she criticized the National Rifle Association and openly
confronted guest and NRA supporter Tom Selleck. Last
week Rosie donated $50,000 to the Jefferson Foundation
which raises money for Columbine High School victims,
making her the largest individual donor since the April 20
massacre.
Rosie O’Donnell is a pioneering, courageous Aries born on
March 21, 1962 (time unknown). With her Moon in the
sidekick sign of Libra, Rosie got her start in show business
playing Madonna’s buddy in “A League of Their Own.”
More sidekick roles followed as Meg Ryan’s pal in
“Sleepless in Seattle” and as Betty Rubble in “The
Flintstones.”
O’Donnel’s astrological profile reveals her awakening
passion for taking on the NRA. The closest aspect in her
chart is the humanitarian Jupiter in Aquarius closely
squaring a caring, wealthy Ceres in Taurus. This
combination might be called the Cosmic Mother aspect,
one who wants to take care of all the lost, hurt children in
the world. She began down this path in a small way as a
single mother adopting two children.
Rosie’s Mercury-Mars-Pluto polarity is a verbal
powerhouse, capable of talking non-stop, or when the
occasion demands, verbally attacking perceived enemies.
And all Mars-Pluto aspects in a natal chart eventually find
enemies to attack, or else they become victims of those
who use absolute force. This year transiting Pluto is
squaring Rosie’s Mars, and she is on the offensive,
attacking the NRA for its callous principles.
