The Gift of the Goddess
Last Friday the Clinton administration announced plans to
deploy 50,000 NATO peacekeeping troops on the border of
Kosovo as soon as possible, including an American
contingent of 7,000 Marines. Meanwhile, a flurry of
diplomatic activity is underway to secure NATO unity and
Russian cooperation.
Astrologically, the war planet Mars is about to make its
direct station, reflecting the reversal in military strategy.
For months President Clinton has promoted NATO
bombing missions as the only necessary intervention to
secure Milosevic’s defeat. But now the NATO leaders are
seizing the moment to deploy peacekeeping troops before
the alliance fractures.
Mars slows to a full stop on June 4 at a most auspicious
zodiacal location. Mars moves forward exactly on the first
magnitude star Spica, one of the most beneficial celestial
influences in our galaxy. Spica is classified as one of the
top ten stars effecting astrological conditions in Brady’s
Book of Fixed Stars* where it is defined as “The Gift of the
Goddess.” Mars aligned with Spica indicates a window of
opportunity to achieve unprecedented peace agreements
and settlements.
Last week’s election in Israel of Ehud Barak has put the
Middle East peace effort back on track. Israel’s arch-enemy
Syria for the first time is ready to talk, and Palestinians
have patiently waited for the Israeli people to elect a
serious negotiator. However, as both Israeli and American
strategists realize, the new opportunities must be seized
quickly while conditions are now predisposed for
far-reaching solutions, all courtesy of Spica.
Soccer Moms Set Political Agenda
Urged on by public sentiment and yet another high school
shooting spree, the Senate passed a landmark gun control
bill last week. Gun Control, traditionally a Democratic
issue, has always been soundly defeated by Republicans
who get substantial campaign contributions from the
National Rifle Association. But some Republican leaders,
noting that 80 percent of Republican women favor gun
control, finally agreed to safety locks and background
checks on all firearms purchased at gun shows.
The gun bill was passed as Mars was transiting through the
U.S. twelfth house of old issues, and exactly trine to the
U.S. Moon. American women are rapidly growing in status
in American politics since the U.S. progressed Sun is
nearing a conjunction with the natal Moon, the natural ruler
of women. American women, especially those who live in
suburban areas where these horrific high school shootings
are taking place, are nearly unanimous in pushing for
radical solutions to juvenile crime.
Meanwhile, Hillary Clinton announced plans to form an
exploratory committee for her Senate race in New York.
Most pundits assume she will have a tough campaign, but if
she wins she’ll be on track to run for the Presidency in
2004 or 2008. Elizabeth Dole, stunned by her husband’s
announced support for Senator John McCain, said she took
him out to the woodshed to set him straight.
Over the next year expect the Soccer Moms and other
women candidates and groups to set the political agenda in
American politics. This means pushing for stronger,
healthier communities, schools, and religious
organizations.
George Bush III, Spica’s Prodigy
George Bush III, the leading GOP presidential candidate,
has assumed a large lead over the likely Democratic
candidate, Vice President Al Gore. Bush has been quietly
running his campaign from Texas where he has relied on
his family name and growing reputation for being a
“compassionate conservative.”
Bush was born with his Sun almost exactly aligned with the
U.S. Sun in Cancer (on July 6, 1946; 7:26 am; New Haven,
CT). His Mercury-Pluto conjunction very near his Leo
Ascendant describes an intensely personal, focused
message, one that comes across easily by virtue of the
harmonious links to his many Libra planets. The
conservative agenda picked up from his cultural and family
roots is considerably softened by an exact opposition to
Ceres, the asteroid bestowing compassion and kindness.
Bush’s twelfth house Sun squares Chiron, indicating that he
may have much to hide, which if revealed could seriously
wound his chances for winning. In any case, his progressed
Sun is nearing an exact trine to the political asteroid Pallas
Athene located in industrious Capricorn. This combination
gives him political acumen, ambition, and poise for the
national fight.
The first magnitude star Spica is exactly conjunct Bush’s
fourth house cusp, showing that his family heritage is a
“gift.” Adding to this natal placement is the magnificent
Jupiter, which brings wealth and social prominence. On
June 4 Mars turns direct right on this cusp and transiting
Jupiter crosses his Midheaven. Expect Bush to be a much
more prominent national figure beginning in early June.
