NATO Bombs Chinese Embassy
The dynamic interplay between Russia, China, and the
United States lurched spasmodically last week from a
promising international agreement to sudden crisis
following the accidental bombing of the Chinese Embassy
in Belgrade. Both Russia and China have veto power in the
U.N. Security Council where the U.S.-led NATO is seeking
approval of a five-point peacekeeping plan in Kosovo.
Astrologically, we can expect the international situation to
be on edge through May and June as transiting Uranus
hovers over the U.S. fourth house cusp. Uranus as the
planet of sudden and unexpected developments has
fostered both domestic and international crises. Astrologers
should watch closely any other planets that form a close
aspect to this Uranus as the key to global evolution in 1999.
Last week’s events corresponded to several important
cycles now in play, but all triggered by the Sun’s square to
Uranus on Friday. Only the day before the media was
trumpeting Russia’s surprising change of policy which now
favored an international military force in Kosovo to
safeguard the refugees return. Then within hours of the
exact square between the Sun and Uranus, the Chinese
Embassy was struck in a massive bombing raid over
Belgrade.
The next time the Sun makes a hard aspect to Uranus is
four days before the much heralded Solar Eclipse of August
11, 1999. The current events foreshadow the key players to
be involved, and they are the world’s superpowers. China,
the United States, and Russia all have significant planets
under dynamic stress, as well as NATO and the United
Nations.
Russian Bear Under Siege
With transiting Saturn now entering the U.S. seventh house
of other countries and open enemies, the State Department
has come up with a strategic plan for the future of
international cooperation. The U.S. without the NATO
allies would be unable to carry out its plan, and most
importantly, without Russia’s assistance, the plan would be
casually dismissed by Serbia.
The Russian horoscope (November 8, 1917; 2:12 am;
Petrograd*) is now under severe pressure. At the moment
transiting Pluto across the fourth house cusp reflects the
deep economic, ecological, and ideological problems that
the government must rectify. Pluto’s symbolism suggests a
prolonged state of decay and self-destruction before any
transformative re-birth may begin.
Next week, watch around Wednesday and Thursday for
some explosive developments. Transiting Mars is
retrograding through diplomatic Libra, and on Wednesday
will square the U.S. Pluto. The week leading up to this
celestial signpost is characterized by unrelenting
diplomatic and military forcefulness, using whatever means
available to achieve its designs.
At the same time, Russia’s chart is also under heightened
tension. Transiting Pluto is about to oppose the tenth house
Jupiter, indicating a crisis in leadership. Plus the Sun
activates a major progression (progressed Moon and
Uranus are opposed) on Wednesday when Russia gets hit
with a sudden and unexpected crisis. Watch the Kremlin
very closely for signs of rebellion, either within the
government, or taking radical measures against the
international coalition forming around NATO’s five-point
plan.
Saturn Attacks Boris Yeltsin
Last week Russian President Boris Yeltsin was showing
signs of severe health problems. NBC played a tape of
Yeltsin raging incoherently about an accidental missile
being fired - the day before NATO struck the Chinese
Embassy. While Yeltsin’s debilitated mental state may
have opened his Third Eye, his survival and clarity is
crucial to any international settlement in Yugoslavia.
Yeltsin was born a visionary Aquarius on February 1, 1931
(birth time is unknown). Yeltsin’s Sun, symbolizing his
conscious identity or ego, is given recognition and strength
by closely aspecting many planets in his horoscope. These
include links to a proud and ferocious Mars in Leo, a
generous Jupiter in Cancer, a diplomatic Ceres in Libra, but
also a difficult square to Chiron in Taurus.
The Sun square Chiron is at the moment the most
worrisome aspect in his horoscope, since Chiron directly
relates to his health and is under severe stress from outer
planet transits throughout 1999. Transiting Saturn is in
Taurus now, heading for Yeltsin’s Chiron which it reaches
during the last week of June.
Even before Saturn reaches this important health indicator,
it will square Yeltsin’s Sun during the first week of June.
Saturn as the ultimate tester of physical endurance weighs
heavily well before it reaches any difficult aspect to the
Sun. Russia’s horoscope reveals a critical dynamic shaping
up this coming week, and it could very well signal a
leadership crisis in the Kremlin.
