Neptune Ushers in the Euro

Last week European Union leaders moved forward with establishing a new currency and economic powerhouse to compete with the juggernaut United States. Meanwhile, the Senate approved NATO expansion, and the United Nations received its first confession for crimes against humanity in war-torn Rwanda.

The leading astrological indicator for these global events is visionary Neptune. Neptune is now at its strongest influence (technically referred to as its Retrograde Station), and is in the networking, alliance-building sign of Aquarius. The ultimate, most profound dream of Neptune in Aquarius is nothing less than creating the perfect society. Practical politicians shoot for something more attainable, like Euroland, or a justice system capable of punishing the global village’s worst offenders.

Neptune is also associated with drugs and scandals. Washington reporters watched in dismay as President Clinton refused to answer any questions regarding his sex life. Within two weeks several critical planetary cycles will be climaxing, and indicate we are on the cusp of an Event, which should severely disrupt the political climate in Washington.

In the Drug Department, Viagra, a male potency pharmaceutical, became front page news on magazines, newspapers, and TV shows across the country. And in California, the San Francisco Cannabis Buyers' Club re-opened under the direction of a 68 year old grandmother, once again flouting the difference between state and federal laws over the medicinal use of marijuana.

CIA Leaks UFO History

The celestial influence of Pluto in ethical Sagittarius explains why morally righteous talk show hosts such as the Christian crusader James Dobson, or pop-psychologist Laura Schlesinger, are gaining in popularity. But then, this week’s Neptune station in Aquarius has brought out the bizarre and mysterious, as can be heard on late night radio interviews with UFO specialists.

The fringe science of ufology has its genesis myth with the July 8, 1947 Roswell incident when a crashed UFO recovered by the US army made international headlines. Neptune was at its strongest only two weeks earlier (turning direct) when the American public first became aware of eye-witness accounts of “flying saucers.” Soon after, the American government passed the National Security Act, which created the Pentagon and the CIA.

Fearing mass hysteria, the CIA has fostered a long-term cover-up plan. The entire process may now be unraveling, as last week two CIA agents revealed on the Art Bell show that Project Blue Book (the Air Force’s UFO reporting operation) was a complete fraud aimed at subverting legitimate UFO sightings. The two spies confirmed their own lifelong work tracking extra terrestrial intelligence for the CIA, including abductions, implants, and satellite reconnaissance.

Ufology is weakened by many pseudo-scientific claims, but now under Neptune’s influence, it’s time to separate the preposterous from the reliable. One UFO group ( CSETI), after encouraging meetings with former CIA Director James Woolsey, is pulling together a wide network (Aquarius) of respected and high-ranking witnesses to launch a sophisticated media campaign. The plan is to ease through the illusions and fears (Neptune) surrounding UFOs, and break the news that ETs are here.

Michael Jordan, Zen Spokesman

At 35 Michael Jordan is still leading the NBA in scoring, corporate endorsements, and public admiration. Jordan may also be nearing the end of his playing days, a possibility befogged by Bull’s coach Phil Jackson’s standing, and Jordan’s own uncertain desires.

Jordan was born a team player with his Sun in Aquarius (February 17, 1963; 10:20 AM; Brooklyn, NY). Sports astrologers will note that his aggressive Mars in the showboat sign of Leo is favorably aspected by an athletic Sagittarius Moon. His Mars is given a competitive edge by its opposition to Saturn, a configuration which denotes how his NBA career consists of heroic personal exploits balanced by disciplined teamwork.

Jordan’s extraordinary fame as a corporate darling and eminent role model can be seen in the astrological conditions surrounding his Midheaven, the point of destiny. Mercury is exalted in Aquarius near his Midheaven (and further glorified by being conjunct the first magnitude star, Altair, plus the South Node). For those who believe in reincarnation, these planetary placements indicate that Jordan has been a superstar before, and he has re-created a naturally illustrious lifestyle.

At this moment, transiting Neptune is turning retrograde right on his Mercury, explaining how no one, not even Jordan himself, has a clue about where he goes from here. "There's a lot of things that I may want, but I have to be at peace accepting," he said. "It's Zen Buddhism. Whatever happens, happens. You have to enjoy this moment."
